The Unappreciated Intelligence
Western culture emphasizes the power and capacities of conscious thinking, and an analytical mind. Western education systems do so as well. Yet, 90-95 percent of our experience, memory, wisdom, and brain capacity resides in the embodied mind or body-mind. Obviously, there is a great deal of under-appreciated and under-utilized capacity. Fortunately, through embodied practices, we can tap into our inner wisdom to access full intelligence.
Relaxation, meditation, mindfulness, and other embodied practices can help a person tap into the body-mind and its unique capacities and wisdom. And, in addition to these more dedicated practices, some simple, very effective techniques can be applied in the moment.
Benefits of Tapping Into Inner Wisdom and the Full Integience:
Taping into the embodied self and integrating it with the analytical mind brings new information and data derived from the embodied mind to perspective-taking and problem-solving. It more fully resources employees. Imagine what can happen when employees apply their full intelligence – their whole person – to a wide range of typical workplace issues or situations. Some possibilities include:
- Clearer envisioning and more genuine planning of a career or development path;
- Renewing commitment to a job or employer’s vision;
- Finding meaning or greater meaning in tasks and roles within the workplace;
- Envisioning their options related to transitions such as taking on a new position, retirement, or downsizing;
- Finding an authentic voice and role within the workplace (e.g., gender, racial or ethnic diversity); and
- Stimulating creativity, innovation, and engagement.
Tap Into Inner Wisdom to Access Full Intelligence Workshop Two-Part Format:
Part One:
Participants gain an appreciation of brain function as well as the distinction between so-called left-brain analytical thinking and right-brain embodied creativity and wisdom. They learn a simple method of turning inward and accessing the power and inner wisdom of the body-mind. In addition, they’ll learn a technique that can be agilely applied in the moment to workplace issues and situations.
Part Two:
The second part comprises a one-hour informal review and Q&A that occurs approximately one week after Part One. This time offers participants supported practice and reinforcement of the learning they acquired in Part One.
Group Size
This workshop is best for groups of four to a dozen people and a maximum of twenty online. The material can be offered on a one-on-one basis as well as part of coaching in the workplace.
One-On-One Sessions:
Participants can arrange follow-up practice on what they learned in the workshop. Work on tapping into inner wisdom and the body-mind is also offered within one-on-one workplace coaching sessions.
