Not everyone realizes that when it comes to spiritual life coaching, there are two options: finding a spiritual life coach near me or a virtual coach (on the phone or online). The choice between in-person and virtual sessions is a matter of personal preference.
It’s also a matter of convenience. This is because virtual sessions allow you more flexibility in terms of times and locations than in-person settings.
Plus, you can choose a virtual coach from anywhere, which increases your chances of finding the best match for you. Fortunately, both choices – near me or virtual – can be equally effective.
What Is Spiritual Life Coach
Very generally, a life coach is someone who supports your reflection and decision-making process about issues you deem important. A spiritual life coach, on the other hand, is a subset of life coaches who tends to work more holistically at a deeper level. They help you connect to your authentic or higher self and your soul purpose.
A Holistic Approach
Here spiritual doesn’t mean religion. Typically, spiritual life coaches are non-denominational and unaligned with organized religion or religious dogma. Although, they tend to embrace various alternative, metaphysical, holistic, animistic, vibrational, and/or nondual spiritual approaches. Consequently, they may integrate various different types of alternative coaching and healing modalities. For example, they may use energy and plant healing, crystals, intuition or divination, meditation, and inner reflection practices to mention just a few.
As a spiritual life coach myself, my approach is holistic, that is, I deal with the whole and integrated person. I recognize that everything and every issue has physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and energetic dimensions. This means that focusing solely on one aspect (e.g., thoughts and beliefs) will not necessarily resolve your whole issue. To great deeper and more complete, you’ll need to go beyond powerful questions and your normal active and analytical beta-mind thinking.
What Issues Spiritual Life Coaches Address
Issues addressed through spiritual life coaching can and often do relate to your vision, mission, life purpose, sense of self, position or role within the broader humanity, etc. But, they’re not limited to these big questions.
Instead, you could work on whether to change jobs, careers, residences, etc. Or, maybe want to untangle your emotions and beliefs. Here, it’s more about the process than the particular issue that differs from basic life coaching.
Let’s take the example of when thoughts and emotions are jumbled making it difficult to come to a conclusion about a pressing issue. Thought work and deeper inner relating could help sort out what’s authentic and true for you.
Other relevant factors such as traumas and patterned or habitual behaviors could be involved as well. Your experience of them could be held or embodied within your physical body or other energy bodies (chakras). In practical terms, holding an issue in your tissue (muscles or organs) could manifest as tension in your shoulders or lower back or irritation in your gut.
Benefits of Spiritual Life Coaching
First and foremost, the benefit of spiritual life coaching is the holistic process that leads to deeper reflection, fuller personalized assessments, and more suitable and sustainable solutions. More specifically, some common client outcomes are:
-
- Insights and clarity related to values, purpose, a life mission, and intentions;
- Greater understanding and clarity about the roles emotions, values, behaviors, intentions, life circumstances, and challenges play within a given context or related to a particular issue;
- A deeper and more positive relationship with the self;
- An ability to show up and make decisions more authentically, with more self-reliance, and hence greater self-confidence;
- Know what constitutes self-care and healthy self-soothing;
- Greater self-love and compassion; and
- Greater balance and well-being.
Many coaches are like me, and we teach our clients various reflective and wellness practices so that they can continue their life journeys more fully resourced and self-reliant.
Choosing Between Spiritual Life Coaching Near Me Versus Virtual Sessions
Whether you receive an in-person or virtual treatment, healing will take place. The difference between the two largely comes down to your preference and convenience. Of course, practitioners often have a preference as well.
In-Person Sessions
It’s true that a cozy treatment room, soothing music, and other accents can create a safe and supportive healing space, which in turn, may relax and open you to greater healing and transformation. In addition, the personal attention and direct companioning of an in-person session can enhance the sense of being cared for, witnessed, and validated. However, it’s also possible that it doesn’t. And, it can even have the opposite effect. As a client, I’ve certainly had both.
Healing is intimate and individual. What supports some clients may not support you, and vice versa.
Virtual Spiritual Life Coaching Sessions
Probably the biggest benefit of virtual sessions is convenience. As a client, you save time by not traveling back and forth from your sessions, especially if you live in a traffic-congested area. This is important if you’re like most people who are constantly balancing a busy schedule and appreciate time savings.
Convenience and logistical considerations make virtual sessions particularly appealing to clients who don’t drive or own a car, have mobility issues, are bedridden at home or in the hospital, or who are homebound caregivers.
Finally, once you decide to go virtual, you search for and access practitioners from all around the world. With more choice comes more opportunities and the increased likelihood that you’ll find an excellent fit.
