Energy healing for dogs might sound odd, but it’s becoming more and more popular.
It’s subtle, gentle, and powerful. And, dogs like it a lot more than conventional veterinary services. Here’s why you’ll want to add it to your dog care options.
What Is Energy Healing
Energy healing involves channeling life force energy (chi, prana, ki) to balance energy to balance mind, body, and spirit to restore health and well-being. This balance creates good health and well-being.
Every living thing has a life force and can channel life force. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be alive. Thus, it works well for dogs too – pretty much like it does for people.
Two common energy healing modalities are:
Energy Healing For Puppies
Fortunately, because puppies are so young, they’ve had fewer chances of being abused. But, it does happen. Some are rescued from hoarding environments, weaned and taken from their mothers too early, or discarded and left in the trash. Happily, when rescued they get a second chance and find their loving forever homes.
As a puppy foster, I’m thankful that what most puppies I’ve fostered and treated need is comfort, reassurance, and love. But, they too have processed a lot over their short little lives. When in a calm and somewhat sleepy state, they are very receptive to energy healing and give me a chance, as the practitioner and caretaker, to communicate with them in a way that’s impossible with words, pets, or commands. We communicate through energy.
Energy Healing For Adult Dogs
Adult dogs, especially rescue dogs, are more likely to have experienced some form of trauma, neglect, or abuse. Some have been roughing it as strays. Others have suffered a long time in hoarding environments. Love and training can do wonders to help rescue dogs acculturate and find a safe and loving place in the human world. As resilient beings, they’ll find their way and heal many of their scars.
Stressed or Traumatize Dogs
But, unfortunately, not all scars or all dogs. Some dogs will have funny quirky behavior stemming from past experiences. They may be challenged in certain circumstances. Certain kinds of people or dogs, closed-in spaces, loud noises, you name it can rattle an otherwise well-adjusted dog.
Even non-rescue dogs have their issues. They have to make their way in a human world and communicate, interact, and abide by the commands of pack members who don’t “speak” dog. The situation is inherently stressful and dogs are undoubtedly going to come up with different interpretations and impressions of their world than their human compassions have.
Making a Connection With the Dog Client
Energy healing reaches dogs and puppies on a whole different level. It can be a life-changing experience. Like with puppies, the practitioner can communicate with the “client” dog through energy itself. It sounds odd, but sometimes the connection is like having a conversation.
Healing and a Dog’s Sense of Safety
Completely hands-off treatment is excellent for dogs who struggling in the human world – new rescues, hard-to-handle dogs, or dogs who are untrusting or resistant to the efforts of people to help them.
Energy offers a way to connect, give healing, and at the same time respect dogs’ boundaries. A dog will always let the practitioner know it’s OK to channel energy, and when they’ve had enough. Reiki is an extremely respectful way to interact with dogs and other animals.
Healing Active Dogs and Puppies
Puppies and super playful or active dogs can be treated hands-off when sleeping. It’s just as effective as a hands-on treatment and you’ll find they just let go and open to the healing, especially otherwise excessively curious and affectionate puppies. You can even offer hands-off healing dogs as they play exercise and interact with others.
