The heart chakra (Anahata in Sanskrit) is about love: self-love and the love of others. Set near the physical heart, it governs affection and relationships. Compassion, acceptance, kindness, and trust are all emotions and states of mind associated with this chakra. Support this chakra with heart chakra aromatherapy.
Well-Functioning Heart Chakra
A well-functioning heart chakra will be open, generous, caring, and receptive. These are the characteristics of people with vital or balanced heart chakras.
Dysfunctional Heart Chakra
When Anhata is out of balance or characterized by dysfunction, an individual may be fearful, untrusting, sad, or even depressed. Intimate and sexual relationships may be uncomfortable, problematic, or even too difficult to engage in. A person with heart chakra imbalance may be indecisive, have low self-esteem, lack compassion for her/himself or others, or have an insatiable yearning for something real or imagined such as an ideal or a feeling state.
Heart Chakra Aromatherapy and Quality Oils
The natural aromatic components of good quality essential oils have properties that help soothe and balance the chakra as well as support and enhance a well-functioning chakra. Rose (Rosa damascena) promotes, compassion and hope. Neroli (Citrus aurantium) encourages trust and ease. See our blog post on essential oils for the Heart Chakra for some more suggested oils.
Aromatherapy applications to support well-functioning chakras are wide-ranging. My favorite treatments are diffuser oils used to create a healing and enlivening atmosphere in a room or sprinkling two or three drops on the shower floor. Roll-ons let you dab the blend onto your skin with a light supportive scent.
Balance and support your heart chakra. Live an open, compassionate, and joyful life.
