Energy Healing

Conventional or allopathic healing and energy healing are not contradictory. Rather, they are complementary and can easily be integrated.

What I refer to as energy healing includes better-known forms of channeling such as Reiki and IET, Shamanism, crystal and plant healing, and intuitive, psychic, and mediumship readings.

Why People Seek Energy Healing

Common reasons why people seek energy healing include, but are not limited to:

  • Reduce stress and the physical, emotional, mental, and energetic impacts of stress;
  • Improve sleep;
  • Relieve physical pain, stiffness, and tension;
  • Reduce nausea and other side effects of radiation treatment and chemotherapy;
  • Improve concentration and mental clarity;
  • Boost physical or mental energy;
  • Clear physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual blockages and imbalances;
  • Ground, center, and cultivate presence;
  • Achieve and maintain balance, integration, and wholeness;
  • Shift or release unwanted recurrent or chronic mental, emotional, or behavioral patterns;
  • Instill new desired outlooks and behaviors;
  • Support the process of change initiated by loss, necessity, or personal choice; and
  • Identify and unfold personal, professional, and/or life purposes.

The Energy in Energy Healing?

Conventional medicine does not intentionally address subtle energy. In contrast, energy healing does. For the latter, its scope includes the chakras, meridians, and aura.

Even though conventional medicine does not explicitly account for subtle energetic aspects of human health and well-being, this energy is always a significant contributor.

Energy is natural and everywhere. As such, it also flows within and around the human body. It moves through our biophysical systems and includes many forms of bio-energy (e.g., chemical, thermal, neurological, mechanical, electromagnetic).

It is critical to physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health whether we acknowledge its influence or not.

How Do Clients Perceive the Energy

Reiki is usually very subtle, but it can be quite pronounced as well. Clients note changes in their perception of ambient temperature during the session. Some localized sensations are tingles, slight to moderate pressure, or a sense of flow. With their eyes closed, they may see colors, sparkles, or mostly neutral images. Still, some people sense almost nothing but can experience notable changes in their symptoms and overall well-being.

After a session, a client might feel a bit tired and want to rest. Similar to a detox, energy healing can temporarily worsen symptoms, but this will pass quickly. In these cases, do rest and drink plenty of water.

Energy Healing Modalities

Energy healing or energy work encompasses a wide range of mind-body-spirit healing practices that focus on the body’s energy systems and how they relate to the human body, health, and well-being. It’s not something new. In fact, the ancients were familiar with it and relied on it.

Ancient Chinese and Indian healers, as well as many indigenous cultures throughout the world, understood and incorporated energy (qi, chi, prana, and sound) into their healing and spiritual practices. Today, the general public and health professionals increasingly acknowledge the validity of many of their beliefs and practices.

As with these ancient practices, modern-day energy work relieves energy blockages and imbalances that are believed to be the underlying causes of dis-ease. When these practices restore balance, they promote health and well-being.

NOTE: Energy healing can be offered to all animals, plants, things, situations, and relationships. Moreover, since everything is energy, everything can benefit from energy healing.
